Can you classify a “great teacher” as a magician?  Is there a common magic potion available to all that pursue the teaching profession? Is there a distinct and secretive mixture that enables personalities of all kinds to hypnotize children everywhere?

I’m sure we would  like to think so!

With that said, there is no “one” potion, when mixed together, sends a spontaneous jolt of overwhelming participation into the  common student. The magic potion to being a great teacher is compiled from a variety of ingredients. These ingredients are handpicked and the measurement of each depends upon the individual and he/she knowing exactly what is required based on the needs of his/her students. Some of these include:

  • kindness
  • sincerity
  • warmth
  • compassion
  • firmness
  • understanding
  • leadership
  • experience
  • vulnerability
  • expertise
  • flexibility
  • dedication
  • loyalty
  • knowledge
  • etc.

These ingredients may be shuffled, combined, selected, added, and subtracted depending upon the degree of success the educator intends to achieve. What  is your “magic potion?” Have you found a suitable mixture of entities or do you find that your recipe is under continuous reconstruction?
